Quote of the Day: April

On April. Thanks to -S. for sending me this scrap today from T. S. Eliot's The Waste Land (1922; in full here):

APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding ...
Unreal City,
Under the brown fog of a winter dawn,
A crowd flowed over London Bridge, so many,
I had not thought death had undone so many.
Sighs, short and infrequent, were exhaled,
And each man fixed his eyes before his feet.
Flowed up the hill and down King William Street,
To where Saint Mary Woolnoth kept the hours
With a dead sound on the final stroke of nine.

Photo of the Day: Easter Monday

Image (8 April 2012) © J. Venrella. Posted with thanks.

This is a contestant from yesterday's Hunky Jesus contest in San Francisco. I think it is an epic photo, actually, for its anchronisms force transcendence (pun intended) of modern, fun surroundings and weirdly capture the religious meaning of the day. Many thanks to -C. who sent me this photo by J. Venrella, taken on Eastern Sunday.
