New Post at The Dragonfly: The Anchorman of the Apocalypse

I have a new post up at The Dragonfly, following my post from yesterday. To understand better how rationalist materialism is confronting serious challenges as a justification for power, I am analyzing how its discursive structure works in relation to the nCov pandemic:

The real meaning of the word, 'apocalypse,' is 'revelation,' the moment when the veil is ripped away and we see the truth in things.

The coronavirus is exposing a lot of problems beneath the surface of the mainstream. The pandemic is prompting totalitarian moves on the part of governments and corporations. At the same time, these moves are red-pilling a lot of people about the system. Citizens are beginning to realize that the system does not have their best interests at heart. They are starting to wonder where all this is going, and why.

I discuss how anons and other critics are picking apart layers of establishment hypocrisy with their own brands of trutherism. I consider how trutherism works. In the minds of truthers, counter-arguments should be based on truth before they are based on fact.

Notice that Assange does not state: "You have to start with the facts." That would be the normal stance for a Fourth Estate journalist. Assange starts with the truth. This implies a different world view, associated with the rise of the Fifth Estate. Image Source: Facebook.

Truth and fact are not synonymous, because truth has a larger symbolic or metaphorical weight, which is independent of everyday life. Truthers' justification for this renegotiation of values depends on criticism of the establishment, whose authority theoretically relies on facts, but actually depends on corruption, lies, and compartmentalized realities.
