I09 recently picked up on reports from Harvard University that German ultraviolet light scans of ancient Greek statues have revealed their true colours.
Harvard: "The reconstructions are the result of more than two decades of painstaking research by a pair of married German archaeologists, Vinzenz Brinkmann and Ulrike Koch-Brinkmann. The exhibition was organized by the Stiftung Archäologie and the Staatliche Antikensammlungen und Glyptothek of Munich, Germany, and has already been shown in a number of European cities. The Sackler is its first U.S. venue."

More on this at Colour Lovers and The Smithsonian. Photos from Stiftung Archäologie. A list of related projects is here and exhibitions here. An article on the Brinkmanns and their work is here at Beyond Criticism.
