TIMES, TIME, AND HALF A TIME. A HISTORY OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM.

Comments on a cultural reality between past and future.

This blog describes Metatime in the Posthuman experience, drawn from Sir Isaac Newton's secret work on the future end of times, a tract in which he described Histories of Things to Come. His hidden papers on the occult were auctioned to two private buyers in 1936 at Sotheby's, but were not available for public research until the 1990s.

The Expected Resurrection of Sai Baba

Sathya Sai Baba claimed to be the embodiment of Shiva and Shakti. Image Source: Sathya Sai Baba.

On Easter Sunday, the Indian guru Sathya Sai Baba (1926-2011) died. For the last few days, his body has been lying in state and mourners from India and abroad have paid their respects. His funeral will be held today in Puttaparthi. He was ranked this year by Watkins Review as one of the most spiritually influential people in the world.  He established a global network of followers and schools.  Among tales of his ability to cure the sick and perform various miracles, he had a hybrid Eastern-Western appeal.

Sathya Sai Baba claimed that he was an avatar, a resurrected form of an earlier guru who was well known around 1910 until 1918, Sai Baba of Shirdi (c. 1835-1918); the latter was a yogi whom Hindus and Muslims alike regard as a saint and the Hindus see as an incarnaton of Lord Dattatreya.

For his part, Sathya Sai Baba is seen as a reincarnation of Shiva and Shakti - rendering him, in his followers' eyes, a living god. Just as Sai Baba Shirdi drew from Muslim and Hindu teachings, Sathya Sai Baba's teachings tell a hybrid story, mingling Hindu, Muslim and Christian theology. He called for a synthesis of these faiths along lines of non-violence, truth, love, peace and right conduct:
My objective is the establishment of sanathana dharma, which believes in one God as propitiated by the founders of all religions. So none has to give up his religion or deity ... I have come not to disturb or destroy any Faith, but to confirm each in his own Faith, so that the Christian becomes a better Christian, the Muslim a better Muslim and a Hindu a better Hindu." According to "Ocean of Love", a book published by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, "there is no new path that He is preaching, no new order that He has created. There is no new religion that He has come to add or a particular philosophy that He recommends ... His mission is unique and simple. His mission is that of love and compassion."
His motto was: Love all, serve all; help ever, hurt never.  Many of Sathya Sai Baba's devotees have transferred the Christian religious story to him, and expect that his spirit has left his body and that he will be resurrected, according to a BBC International report, "in the next three or four days" after his death.  That would mean that he should rise from the dead - today.

    1. Read the free book online, Sai Kingdom Come. I'm guessing either Sivarathri in Feb or Easter in April 2014.

  2. Not sure where BBC picked up the 3-4 days, but most devotees expecting a resurrection are expecting it on the 41st day after death. The date of death could be any day between 28th March and 24th April since the secrecy surrounding what went on the ICU makes people suspect he may have died any intervening day, but was kept alive by artificial life-support systems. At any rate the last date for any possible resurrection according to this calculation is June 3, 2011. Of course, yet another calculation/resurrection date may surface if that date comes and goes without any claim of resurrection. But that's another story.

  3. Thank you for your comment, Anon. I know a lot of people are following this, one of the mysteries of the Millennium, so I am glad for your clarification.

  4. The 41 days is based on what Baba himself said in 2000 at Kodaikanal and documented in a book called Tapovanam. Apparently he said that he would leave the physical body and roam the skies for 40 days before returning to it.

  6. Everybody believes that Sri Satya Saibaba is a reincarnation of God. Everybody will lose their faith on God if God's own words go wrong. As per his statement he is supposed to resurrect on the 41st day after he left his physical body. Why people belonging to Prashanthi Nilayam are keeping mum about this?.If he resurrects himself, it will be the greatest miracle of our lifetime. All Sai devotees are waiting for that. I am seeing him in my dreams daily after his absence from his physical body. Will anybody clarify about whether any mention is found in nadi astrology ( palm leaves) about his resurrection?

  7. Not everyone believes in God and evem of those who do, only a small percentage believe in Baba to be an Avatar of God.

If there is a claim of resurrection, it will be thoroughly investigated simply because impersonation is a crime and the law recognises Baba as being dead. First, the claimant will have to be proved as Baba beyond all reasonable doubt. This can be acomplished by testing the claimant's DNA with that of the known surviving genetic relatives of Baba. If that comes out positive, the grave will be dug open to find out who has been buried. If there is a body and its DNA matches the claimants the issue is closed, since Baba is not known to be one of identical twins, which is the only case where two people can have identical DNA. But if no body is found (as one would expect in a resurrection) a non-supernatural explanation would throw the entire death and burial into question. Unless the resurrected Baba performs other miracles that leaves no one in doubt about his supernatural powers (so far he hasn't performed any such, since there are many doubters), those who were close to him would come under a heavy cloud of suspicion for staging a fake death and burial.

Those people had been at the receiving end of accusations during Baba's hospitalisation from "devotees" about not treating Baba properly, as if they could do anything to him that he himself did not want done. The last thing they need is the non-devotees and possibly the government accusing them of staging fraudulent death and burial to fake a resurrection, which is exactly what the detractors will first conceive of if they keep insisting on a resurrection before it happens.

  8. BABA will resurrect. He cannot lie about his death. He has to come back. If this happens that will be my greatest day.

  9. I apologise for my not-too-well researched comments made on April 30, 2011. I haven't read the book Tapovanam at that time and was relying on what I heard in the media and attributed to the book. However, I have since accessed the book (anyone can do it at http://www.saicommunities.com/forum/topics/tapovanam-read-online ) and did not find anything supporting the 40 days claim.

But yes, several devotees haven't given up hopes of resurrection. That Sai devotees have to resort to creative calculations (where a year is supposed to be a "stellar" year of 324 days that no one heard of before and not a lunar year of 360/390 days or a solar one of 365/366 days) to convince themselves that he lived as long as he predicted, is putting them at the receiving end of utter humiliation, that no divinely inspired person would cause those who trust him.

  11. From BBC News on 22nd June 2011.

In a separate development, Sai Baba's Sathya Sai Central Trust said it had recovered a large quantity of money and cash from his "personal chamber".
"About $2.5m of cash, 98kg of gold and 307Kg of silver were recovered and deposited in the bank account of the central trust," a statement released by the trust said.????????????

  14. I dreamed last week (full moon of May 2012) that Sai Baba returns to the figure of a boy, orphan of nine or ten years with the same appearance and hair Baba. In my dream he was looking for a mother ... He had come back stronger! Neusa Rock

  18. Sri Sathya Sai Baba is god incarnate for many. He has touched so many lives in so many ways all over the world. His humanitarian work for the welfare of mankind is unparalleled. His messages of love all, serve all.. help ever, hurt never spread the universal message of love. Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is perhaps one of the very few gurus who has followers from every religion, caste, creed, race, community etc because love is his very nature. His divine doctrine has enabled many to live a peaceful, content yet worldly life. For many devotees their faith that he is god does not depend on whether or not he will come back for even as I write they feel him enriching their lives.
Having said this, it is important to mention that there are those among his devotees who have implicit faith that Sri Sathya Sai Baba will return ushering in the golden age that mankind has been long waiting for. He will return in ways which is beyond human imagination and that time, that moment is fast approaching. They also believe that try as one may, one cannot predict him. He is the master and whatever he does shall be for the welfare of mankind. So if they can't predict him, why do they believe that he will come back? They give a simple and innocent answer. They believe in every word he said. His word is truth. If he has said he will live till 95/96.. he will most certainly be back. If he has said that the unrest in the world will be replaced by love, peace, righteousness, truth and nonviolence. ..then it damn well will be. They quote Baba "Trust in my wisdom for I do not make mistakes"
Who doesn't want a world filled with peace? In his lifetime Sathya Sai Baba has always been engaged in transformation of hearts. Upon his return if mankind is going benefit and gain from it.. an era of peace and love shall arrive with him. .then why not? So be it. When? Where? How? ....Who cares? Say the devotees, As long as he is coming back. We just pray every day that O lord, let today be that day. We just have to intensify our prayer, our service to mankind and make our lives his message.

  20. Baba is God. There is a divinity in each and everyone of us. We can worship him in the formless form just like Buddha, Mohammed or Jesus.
But the sad truth is he wont be walking the skies or coming back in his physical form, period.
There are so many people living in the world of ignorance.
