Laugh of the Day: Easter's Concerned Reader

Happy Easter... and thanks for the smiles! We probably all need to lighten up. Love the third graphic best... Christ consults the Cat... I wonder what the cat advises? :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that the cat looks like a cross between those kittens in the toilet paper ads and Winston Churchill. Also it is so fabulously surreal, like this is the paint-by-numbers golden park where deities gods and demigods hang to discuss theological issues in the eternal afternoon. I could see Christ being happy there.
DeleteThe funniest kitsch art incorporating Christ (there has to be a better phrase than that) is the stuff done in earnest. One example that keeps resurfacing is a line of figurines of Christ playing various sports with pre-teen boys. The presumed message to the audience being "you want to be on his team" but the unintended message being "the other team aren't just different kids playing the same game you are-- they're playing against Christ!"
ReplyDeleteAlways glad to see you here pblfsda. Do you have a link to that image? I might add it to this post ...
ReplyDeleteAnyone can find them easily with Google Image-- enter "Jesus sports figurines". Actually, I only got halfway through the word 'sports' when the whole phrase appeared as the first option. Here's a page selling some of them:

Here's one that considers the ramifications of the figurines:
