TIMES, TIME, AND HALF A TIME. A HISTORY OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM.

Comments on a cultural reality between past and future.

This blog describes Metatime in the Posthuman experience, drawn from Sir Isaac Newton's secret work on the future end of times, a tract in which he described Histories of Things to Come. His hidden papers on the occult were auctioned to two private buyers in 1936 at Sotheby's, but were not available for public research until the 1990s.

Laugh of the Day: Easter's Concerned Reader

A concerned reader of the blog thinks this blog needs to lighten up. He sent some links from the UK humour site, The Poke, which ran, Jesus is the Boss and 35 reasons to love Easter on Good Friday. The first two paintings are by Nathan Greene, The Senior Partner (2002) and The Difficult Case (1994). Thanks to -B.

  1. Happy Easter... and thanks for the smiles! We probably all need to lighten up. Love the third graphic best... Christ consults the Cat... I wonder what the cat advises? :-)

    1. I love that the cat looks like a cross between those kittens in the toilet paper ads and Winston Churchill. Also it is so fabulously surreal, like this is the paint-by-numbers golden park where deities gods and demigods hang to discuss theological issues in the eternal afternoon. I could see Christ being happy there.

  2. The funniest kitsch art incorporating Christ (there has to be a better phrase than that) is the stuff done in earnest. One example that keeps resurfacing is a line of figurines of Christ playing various sports with pre-teen boys. The presumed message to the audience being "you want to be on his team" but the unintended message being "the other team aren't just different kids playing the same game you are-- they're playing against Christ!"

  4. Anyone can find them easily with Google Image-- enter "Jesus sports figurines". Actually, I only got halfway through the word 'sports' when the whole phrase appeared as the first option. Here's a page selling some of them:

Here's one that considers the ramifications of the figurines:

And here's Conan O'Brien's take on the matter:
