A (dis)information crackdown has started by (dis)information authorities regarding the Wuhan virus. The Chinese government has begun silencing unauthorized reporting and has demanded that a Danish newspaper refrain from virus satire. Youtube, Twitter and Facebook are removing social media and alt-media reports on the epidemic, on the grounds that everything discussed by unauthorized outlets is a conspiracy theory, disinformation, or racism. Western MSM outlets confirm that the virus started in bats and snakes, but condemn online (racist) criticism of the Chinese eating bat soup and running filthy wildlife wet markets. Youtubers were unimpressed at this feeble attempt at their moral re-education by inserting identity politics into this obvious, ongoing disaster:

Social media censorship was implemented amid reports that Facebook employees have been told to refrain from travel to China, which confirms the seriousness of the epidemic. Apple expects the epidemic to disrupt its iPhone supply, meaning the crisis is real. Medical updates reveal a terrifying situation; but they also show that the full range of information is unavailable for a comprehensive understanding of what is unfolding.

It is hard to tell what is real in the first videos of the virus's spread and what is not. Regardless, the earlier leaked local footage of bodies in Wuhan's streets and hospitals has now disappeared, or is disappearing, off the Internet. The China Media Project reports that the Chinese government has been censoring and steering the narrative all along: local Wuhan reporters who tried to track down information in December and earlier this month were intimidated, stone-walled, and beaten up:

"while carrying on an investigation of Wuhan’s Huanan Seafood Market, where the outbreak originated, Xiao Hui (萧辉), a reporter for Caixin Media, was surrounded and beaten by four security guards. Caixin journalist Wang Heyan (王和岩), one of the finest investigative reporters working in China today, contacted several doctors in Wuhan in order to verify infections among medical staff, but was not allowed to meet with her sources. The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention has issued an order saying that: '[Medical personnel must not, under any condition, accept media interviews, and must not leak information about the outbreak to the outside. Noone can accept interviews, even if journalists promise anonymity and agree to protect their sources.]'"

These embarrassments have been replaced with a government-sanctioned group hug video with Wuhan's citizens calling to each other from their tower blocks, complete with a soppy piano soundtrack. A Vietnamese social media video popped up yesterday on Youtube, which peddles a positive message about clean, orderly, calm - and deserted - Wuhan streets. Reddit is suddenly full of Redditors who want to debunk coronavirus conspiracy theories.

There are signs that the virus stirred up a great deal of unrest in already unsettled Hong Kong, mainland China, and on Chinese social media. A video purportedly from today (27 January 2020) of open, violent popular revolt in Fujian, which I embedded in this post, actually disappeared off the Internet while I was still writing the post.

The censorship and corresponding attempts to keep the Chinese and global public artificially calm may indicate that the virus has not been contained and is out of control. The Chinese government has not revealed (or does not know) true numbers. You can read an account of their desperate attempt to understand and control the virus from 8 December 2019 to 11 January 2020, here. Fox News reported that the Chinese government spurned help offered by the US CDC to contain the virus on 6 January 2020. The Chinese may have been unbelievably sloppy in their handling of deadly diseases; a 6 August 2019 report states that they shipped a live Ebola sample from Winnipeg, Canada to Wuhan, China on a commercial airline flight on 31 March 2019! Perhaps this is why the MSM are walking back their wet market story with virtue signalling. It came from bats, but not bat soup. Again, the evidence of the virus's point of origin seems to return to the Wuhan bioweapons lab.

Further evidence that this is a serious epidemic: there are images of medical staff on Reddit and Twitter sleeping with their protective gear on. Combined with censorship in east and west, the picture is very worrying.

Coronavirus Roundup: The Struggle to Control the Narrative Begins

Here is the coronavirus roundup for today, mainly from medical sources and reports on evacuations. It is very difficult to pinpoint exact information, and so conclusions and discussions - whether formal and informed or not - vary wildly. There are indications that the Chinese government has not fully disclosed the extent of the outbreak; or perhaps they do not know. People on Chinese social media criticize the government, while the government strives to control the narrative. Meanwhile, the usual suspects are at work in western countries, and are using this issue as an excuse to crack down further on the alt-media and social media and to eradicate any rogue narratives.

Initial medical studies - based on very limited, preliminary information - are not encouraging and are also conflicting. A commenter from Reddit wrote today:

"The Lancet study of the first 41 patients paints a shocking picture: They were all 'stable' for 10.5 days on average before suddenly needing to go on respirators and 6 of them dying even more days after that."

Regarding the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, the following information is circulating, according to tweets and videos reproduced here. Bear in mind that some may be disinformation, faked or staged information, or wrong information; also bear in mind that it took approximately six weeks from Patient Zero's case in Wuhan to explode into an epidemic. First cases are now appearing in the USA and Canada:

• Videos purportedly from inside the quarantine zone show medical workers breaking down emotionally and psychologically under the strain; nurses have been forced to work with lack of protection due to low supplies
• The government is building two new hospitals in Wuhan and has flown in 1000+ medical staff; the Internet is skeptical and sees these as death centres
• Transmissibility worse than the Spanish flu of 1918, which spread worldwide until 1920, and infected 500 million people in the era before global air travel; transmissibility is increasing
• Transmittable via the eyes, meaning that masks cannot be used alone, and people also need eye protection; this was discovered by medical staff who became infected via their eyes
• Infected people can be asymptomatic and contagious for 4.8 days, but some say 2+ weeks, and the infected can drop in their tracks mid-stride with no symptoms, meaning that pre-travel checkpoints for fever earlier this month in China were useful in isolating symptomatic travelers, but useless in catching non-symptomatic travelers
• Patient Zero in the Wuhan outbreak had no contact with the wet seafood market highlighted in MSM reports as the source of disease
• The virus may be a bioweapon, with rumoured release source from bioweapons labs at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and possible related security breach at a Winnipeg, Canada facility, the National Microbiology Laboratory. Or perhaps the virus was directly imported to Wuhan. A Winnipeg-based Chinese scientist trained Wuhan staff and co-developed a successful Ebola drug, ZMapp; the scientist, Xiangguo Qiu, was expelled from Canada in July 2019, along with her biologist husband and Chinese students; she may also be a scapegoat in a case of bioweapons espionage
• Internet speculation includes chatter about the fact that the commercial airplane Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, which Iran (mistakenly) shot down on 8 January 2020, was carrying dozens of Canadian scientists
• Further Internet chatter fixates on 'Event 201,' a simulated pandemic exercise, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; it was staged in October, 2019: "Event 201 is a pandemic tabletop exercise hosted by The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in partnership with the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on October 18, 2019, in New York, NY. The exercise illustrated the pandemic preparedness efforts needed to diminish the large-scale economic and societal consequences of a severe pandemic." • Internet sleuths are not only convinced that this outbreak relates to patents, anti-bodies, vaccines, and bio-espionage; they regard the unleashing or manifestation of this virus right before the Chinese New Year travel season as highly suspicious - so do Chinese people talking on WeChat; they blame the American government as the original source
• The coronavirus outbreak bears a lot of resemblance to the manufactured killer virus created by Umbrella Corp. in the video game, Resident Evil; and the Umbrella Corp. logo inside the game matches the real world logo used by a Chinese biotech firm, which is based 800 kilometres from Wuhan
• Gamers are running the real world coronavirus scenario through the iOS strategy simulation game, Plague Inc., with worrying results; the game's creator warned this week: "It's a game, not a scientific model."
• The Wuhan coronavirus outbreak also resembles storylines in the film Contagion (2011) and in the new Netflix documentary, Pandemic (2020)
• Chinese people in the area of the outbreak are staying inside and conversing via social media; they have deduced that the government has not informed the public accurately, given what they have witnessed on the ground
• If all travel across China was stopped now, the rate of viral spread would only slow by just over 24 per cent by 4 February 2020
• Harvard professor, Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding, who specializes in epidemics calls it "thermonuclear pandemic level bad"
• 100,000+ infected in Wuhan, as of a few days ago, contrary to understated official reports
• The virus is mutating, although the WHO has not confirmed this

Wuhan: Leaks and Speculation

As the coronavirus spreads from China to other countries through airports, speculation about the origins of the virus proceeds apace. Leaked phone videos are filtering out of Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, the locked-down epicentre, which suggest that the outbreak is much worse than the Chinese government is admitting. Twitter commenters, who are poring over videos, are convinced that the outbreak has also been going on for longer than the stated start date of 12 December 2019:

"This is no pneumonia. They had a breach of a bioweapons facility. Hemorrhagic fever on the loose. Think Ebola type shit and other pathogens. Look at the blood."

And:

"It looks like he coughed up blood. we've been seeing videos of this happening to chinese people for months now... just how long has the virus actually been around?"

Some trolls and Anons distrust any media coming out of China, and assume that even leaks are intentional and government-vetted. It is difficult to tell who made these videos, because real leakers would have to obscure their identities and source origin to get past the electronic Chinese firewall.

The most concerning of these leaked videos is that of a doctor who breaks down on the telephone to superiors or colleagues at another hospital in the city. He repeatedly yells: "What did you guys do?" He accuses them of not accepting enough patients.

Internet conspiracy theorists are convinced that Wuhan is the site of a bioweapons research lab, the National Biosafety Laboratory, which opened in 2017. This comes via gossip that there are people in Wuhan who work there and are telling loved ones abroad about their work.

In the footage above, notice the blood around the collapsed man's head. Trolls and Anons believe that this disease is a manmade virus that was accidentally or deliberately released. Conspiracists are digging through records of patents and vaccines and are examining suspicious film scenes, which they believe show predictive programming. They are placing into this context past comments from notable figures such as Prince Philip, who said in 1988:

"In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation." 

The main investigation of this type is being undertaken by someone with the Twitter handle, OctoberReignz, who joined Twitter in October 2019.
